An Escape From Tarkov Podcast
Lots of stories on this episode of the EXFIL - MTB kicks off the show with a story about the upper level of interchange when his partner (in a duo) was killed and then MTB proceeded to wipe out the entire 5 man team that surrounded his area.
While it would have been easy to stop there he went on to talk about an epic fail on Factory when he went in with a ‘full chad’ setup - Exfil helmet with ear covers and face shield, raid backpack, meta AK, etc. Basically meta chad except for one thing… he forgot a chest armor and ended up getting killed with 1 bullet to the thorax from a patrolling AI scav. Ronal was quick to point out the easy lesson here!
Shout out to Nickk this week as he sent in a (very sad) story about a severe case of dehydration. Specifically, he was leaving a raid as a THICC PMC on Labs and died in the elevator extract with 1 second left on the exfil timer due to dehydration. While this seems crazy, if you’ve been playing this game long enough you have probably experienced some kind of death, maybe not dehydration, but something nearly as unlucky. After reading the story MTB and Ronal give tips related to handling all of the debuffs and perhaps the most interesting point made is one about how long you actually spend dealing with severe debuffs compared to your total playtime. It is likely in the seconds or minutes compared to the hundreds of hours spent running around and looting. Think about how you would act in these scenarios because you may only encounter them a few times in your Tarkov career.
Nvidia Filters. From color correction to vibrance enhancing, the recent conversation (mostly on reddit) has been related to the stance @bstategames took on twitter saying these would be turned off with the 12.5 patch but Nvidia did it early. While the business implications are interesting the hosts also do not shy from giving their opinion on 3rd party software modifying games. There are certainly cases that can be made for particular players that need correction, but the hosts navigate through the various thought processes and camps related to 3rd party correction. You might be surprised where they land on this issue.
Lastly, Ronal talks about some settings at the end of the episode that may really help your FPS in game. Specifically he talks about what the textures setting does to your CPU and GPU load and some tricks you can utilize to optimize your in game FPS. This is in direct response to the Nvidia filters going away and people looking for ways to get more out of their in-game settings for the 12.5 patch.
Goodluck out there! Let us know how you feel about the color correction settings going away!

In this episode, MTBtrigger and Ronal talk about their adventures with thermal scopes. Both of them have very different experiences and strategies for how to use thermal scopes to your advantage. MTB walks through how to learn maps and specifically how to identify patterns in PMC behavior while having the ‘advantage’ of a thermal scope. Ronal, on the other hand, used the thermal scope to gain confidence and map knowledge to move through the mid-game tasks.
This conversation led to a deep dive on spawn locations; the progression of not knowing where PMCs start or where they will come from, to understanding where they spawn, and ultimately how to ‘clear out spawns’. They also mention the idea of a buzzsaw - there is usually a point or two on each map that all PMCs filter through to get to the other side of the map. The example given was the lumber mill on Woods or the gas station and resort on Shoreline. Knowing when other players are going to be at those locations and where they come from is critical for a successful exfil in Tarkov.
MTB recounts him killing another player right as he spawned in on Factory that ultimately led to a highly upvoted reddit thread related to spawning late on maps. This is perhaps the longest MTB and Ronal have disagreed on something - which side are you on regarding the ‘issue’ with spawning in late on a map (after the countdown). Many other topics were discussed related to spawn points: How to use scav location or lack thereof to your advantage, knowing where scavs patrol and don’t patrol to quickly identify PMCs or player scavs, and how hard it can be to move from scav to PMC because of the ‘raid start spawns’
Healing Breakdown:
This section starts with a story, a continuation of the story at the top of the show about how to heal during an encounter and what things you need to consider to make your decision.
Question for YOU: What debuffs and/or limbs do you heal or cleanse first and why? Do you have a ‘system’ you follow for healing?
MTB and Ronal shared the view that you should generally handle blood loss first closely followed by pain, but this is all situational, especially if you have a propital. Do you agree?
The episode is rounded out by an overview of all of the ailments and debuffs your character can ‘acquire’ or be afflicted with during a raid and what items can help you. Other topics discussed included Survival kit versus CMS.
There are a ton of things to worry about in Escape from Tarkov so we hope this conversation about healing, debuffs, and spawn locations helps you survive in more raids. Stay safe and scav often!

The Dream (and dream analysis) episode.
On this week’s episode MTB and Ronal talk about some of the things they ‘miss’ from other games or would like to see in Tarkov. The discussions start with a “wouldn’t this be cool” context, but we think you’ll be surprised where they land on some of their ‘dreams’
MTB brings up a popular third party resource from PUBG (Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds for the unfamiliar - A battle royale FPS) called PUBG.report; a website that uses the API to pinpoint, and deliver, the time at which two twitch streamers fight and one of them gets knocked or killed. The thought of this coming to Tarkov is an interesting one - would you want to see when you kill a streamer? Would it cause more issues with stream sniping?
Ronal’s main wish list item is an expanded market tool section or an API to allow for addons to be created. This spawned the debate of whether or not overlay addons would be a good thing for Tarkov - Would it be OK as a stat dump after a raid? What about just a market API that gave more tools for ‘playing’ the market? Many references are made to the way World of Warcraft handles their addons and because Tarkov has many similar elements to larger MMO games (especially in the trade system) MTB and Ronal spent a fair amount of time talking about what they (battlestate) could do.
Those were the topics that the hosts flipped on, but the one they both agreed on that would be an amazing addition to the game would be the ability to share gun presets. For example, send an in-game mail of some kind that would allow the other user to save the gun preset to make it easier to build.
To continue the conversation from last week about the flea market the hosts give examples of some trades that can be very profitable with the test results of buying the items for the trades and subsequently selling the item that was traded for. There are many trades that can make Roubles simply by purchasing off the flea market, crafting or trading, and then sell the final product. In some cases you can make as much as 400k roubles at this point in the wipe (~6 months in) but there are also trades you can complete with level 1 traders that can yield a profit. The trades or hideout options that were discussed: Magazine Case crafted in the Lavatory in the hideout, Weapon Case trade from Mechanic Loyalty Level 3, Red Rebel trade from Jaeger Loyalty Level 3, Tetris to Bitcoin trade from Mechanic Loyalty Level 1, and finally the S I C C Case from Jaeger Loyalty Level 3. All of the details for how to make a profit utilizing these trades is within the episode. The methodology discussed can be used to determine if any trade is profitable.
Good luck out there! Let us know if you use any of these trades or crafts already or if you have one that you prefer over these.

A recent nighttime raid MTBTrigger and Ronal did caused a few revelations for them both - on one hand MTB realized that an early negative experience in a night raid kept him from going back for nearly 40 levels and Ronal found that the current tasks he was trying to complete were surprisingly easier in night raids versus some that he recently completed during daytime raids.
The saga of strength leveling continues. Ronal digs in and talks about his (literal) journey across the Shoreline map to get his strength leveled.
Deep Dive on Flea Market: flea market basics, how the flea market works, making money using the flea market with the traders and hideout.
How it works - establishing value between players. Early on it is best to compare what the traders will give you versus what players will pay on the flea market.
Wishlist - do you use it? MTB talks about a strategy with the wishlist that may reduce the time it takes you to ‘complete’ your daily hideout tasks.
How to use all of the various tools and filters to your advantage when using the flea market. Not all of them are useful, but MTB and Ronal offer various ways to think about specific functions in the flea market. For example - you can use the minimum quantity to find underpriced items that are not at 100% quantity ( in the show MTB talks about survival kits and how he found a nice flip opportunity).
Beware ‘barter trades’ from players. Most of the time these are put up as a scam - think about it... why would a player put up a trade for something that is a worse value for them compared to just selling it on the flea market?
Linked search and required search. Not only are these powerful functions to help you when trying to mod guns, but they can be used to quickly learn ‘WHY’ an item is valuable by seeing the barter trades a particular item is used for. **using required search will not show you what an item is used for in the hideout crafts**
There is always a rabbit hole and in this episode it was related to linked search - MTB and Ronal break down exactly how this function works and why it may not seem intuitive in the beginning, but it is perhaps one of the most useful tools for finding gun parts once you know how to utilize it. The biggest challenge with linked search is knowing which gun part you should do the linked search on to find the correct modification. Often times doing a linked search on the gun itself will not give you the correct options for modding.
The final topic is how to make money in the flea market. Worth noting is that the specific examples given in this episode worked at the time, or in the past, and won’t necessarily work again - the idea was to give the mindset behind executing a ‘market strategy’ for finding opportunities to make extra currency.
Finding ways to make or earn currency is one thing, but don’t get so focused on the flea market that you neglect to find the areas where you are losing money. Do you throw away matches and other low-value barter items? You could be turning those into fuel for your generator versus purchasing fuel tanks from traders/flea market.
Goodluck out there - let us know about your flea market wins and losses!

Lots going on in the greater Tarkov community in the last few weeks so we spent some time talking about a few fun and exciting things as well as the topics that maybe aren’t the player base’s favorite.
The community, reddit specifically, is really excited about an idea related to a Stim Case. The idea behind this is most players aren’t utilizing stims so Ronal and MTB discuss what this might look like and if its something that actually belongs in the game or if this would be leading down a path to Tarkov not being ‘hardcore’ enough. Perhaps most impressive about the entire stim case situation is it started with a post about the idea and then evolved into multiple graphic artists creating drawings and ultimately fully rendered examples of what it could look like - we thought that was pretty cool
Common complaints recently have been revolving around stutters and cheaters (mostly on Labs, but they’ve been getting to other maps). There isn’t anything definitive out there from Battlestate on these issues, but the hosts talk about some of the conspiracy theories and research that has been posted to the EFT forums, reddit, and the Tarkov Discord.
Lastly, the SCAV conversation seems to find little nooks and crannies in every conversation, but it was time for a ‘best practices’ sort of conversation related to all of the tips and one-off topics that were covered on previous episodes.
It is always hard to end a conversation about SCAVs so we hope you’ll laugh with us when Ronal and MTB can’t seem to close the conversation out and keep having ‘just one more thought’ near the end of the episode.
Our signature final statement seems super appropriate this week :) - Goodluck on your SCAV runs - we look forward to meeting you and hunting down some PMCs!

Ronal and MTB sit down with Geekseh for almost two hours to discuss all things EFT and his background in content creation.
From his start on a laptop that crashed when followers showed up during his early Hearthstone days to the first time he quit Tarkov and why he picked it up and it is now the game he developed a successful YouTube channel around - we hear all about the journey.
He tried to slide ‘buttered boy’ into a conversation and we get the full definition inside the episode.
Flea market level changes, AS Val and VSS w/ SP-5 ammo, why map knowledge is the number one skill you should be ‘leveling’, and many more Tarkov topics inside the episode...

Ronal talks about how to turn your PMC runs into glorified scav runs on shoreline. Additionally he talked about the caches that are all around the outskirts of this map. Look for the maps he uses and created for these runs in the discord
Perhaps the most interesting debate the hosts have had to date, if you want to call it that, occurs on this episode when Ronal and MTB have differing viewpoints on the effect an over reliance on scav running can have on different playstyles. Is scav running more likely to be a clutch for a Rat or a Chad - arguments for both inside the episode!
Consider your budget when thinking about gear efficiency - the team talks through which items and gear pieces they think are the most effective for survival. You might be surprised where they land on headsets, armor, ammo, ergo/recoil, etc.
The episode is wrapped up with a conversation about how to best utilize the traders with a high level view on what they can do for you - even at low reputation levels.

Both MTBtrigger and Ronal had some epic raids this week that they breakdown. Some were PVP battles and others were related to ‘breakthroughs’ in game mechanics or understanding key features of Tarkov.
If you are having trouble spotting people at range or feel like you are missing shots - the video MTB spoke about regarding your FOV setup is here - https://youtu.be/gGl_59n9mCg (Credit to the youtube creator Gambet for the video)
To continue on the budget gun discussion from the previous week Ronal and MTB also discussed the weapon builds that they became attached to - specifically the MDR,a modded HK, and a low recoil AK-74M build.
The final bit of the conversation ends with an introspective look at how both of them look at themselves while playing in groups or for their own progress in the game.
We hope you enjoy!

Is Ronal turning into a Chad? Maybe! We discuss how familiarity with maps and certain areas can develop into a hybrid play style and what it means to be comfortable in Tarkov (more conversation on battling gear fear).
We talk about different aspects of the budget or economy loadouts - what types of guns should different types of players use? Should you wear a helmet? Should you use guns you take from other players? Are there guns that can be used in most situations? All of this and more in the budget conversation.
We finish up with a list of the ‘working on’ items that were discussed on the latest episode of TarkovTV with Nikita and a cast of over 10 very large streamers. Summit1G made a very good point that we break down regarding the server performance and what gamers are actually looking for and what they will wait for.
Interchange rework, Raiders, new guns, new suppressors, air drops!?!?! We could go on and on here, but we literally listed out all of the leaks on the show and talk about the ones that we think will have the largest impact on players
