It is story time this week on the Exfil. MTBtrigger and Ronal break down a few great raids (and a few bad) because they actually had time to sit down and get a string of raids in together!
The feedback from last week was amazing, it was great to get additional strategies and more ‘money making’ opportunities! Thanks everyone who joined the conversation on YouTube and in Discord.
MTB kicks off the show talking about a 2nd hand story told about community member Reny by Tonypiff - who now refers to him as detective Reny. Tony watched, through a discord stream, as Reny shot an enemy scav, while scaving himself, and tracked the heavy bleed from the Pier on Shoreline all the way to Road to Customs exfil and found the dead body just outside of the exit.
This story caused MTB to rethink his original thoughts about Heavy Bleeds and what they add to the game and ultimately influenced the episode into becoming story-based.
Ronal goes on to share a a few success stories on Shoreline followed by some SUPER unfortunate events. Great lessons to be learned, some heart break, and some task completion.
While there wasn’t a specific strategy session, topics covered include: When things go wrong, success and false confidence, how to get better in tarkov squads, and communication.
All this and more in the episode!

Exfil is a weekly Escape From Tarkov Podcast
On this episode MTBtrigger and Ronal revisit the feedback and conversations around making money in Tarkov. Whether by DM, discord, or MTB’s stream, there was a tremendous amount of strategy talked about as it relates to making currency.
Some of the topics were worth a second glance - like how to sell directly to the flea market from a case. Additionally, some of the topics that were mentioned deserved some further detail.
Flea market tips, how to use the traders more effectively (at all levels), and how settings goals can help you determine the amount of currency you need.
While we tried to keep the focus OFF homerun loot runs recently, MTB tells his recent story about how he stumbled into Killa and was able to 1-shot him with a TOZ. The aftermath of an apparent battle with a level 67 PMC who was also dead nearby.
This leads into the discussion of playstyles and goal setting, but on a deeper level. The hosts dive into the challenging topic of ‘getting better at Tarkov skills’ as they relate to your in game goals - specifically, how having a subjective, to you, amount of currency can allow you to not have gear fear when trying out new tactics or playstyles.

This episode is ALL about making money - Ronal’s favorite topic.
Many of these topics have been discussed in short form during previous episodes of the podcast, but recently there have been a number of new players to the game asking about how to earn currency.
The exact item trades, barters, or in-game methods may change over time as Tarkov evolves, but the key concepts discussed *should* stay up to date for some time.
MTBtrigger and Ronal talk about their top 5 tips for making money in tarkov. These are the key concepts.
After going over the high level strategy both of the hosts talk about their individual strategies for making money.
Do you make money the same way? Do you have a strategy to add? MTB talks about this being a conversation starter and not a ‘meta’ or ‘best-in-class’ strategy - these money making strategies are simply the ways Ronal and MTB go about earning currency in Escape From Tarkov.
How to use barters to make money, what you can do, even at level 1, to make money, time efficiency vs. money earned, and many more in the episode!

On this episode MTBtrigger and Ronal went back to shoreline and had another set of excellent PVP stories and the lessons learned from them.
The first situation was on the north side of the street near the pier. After a significant amount of time was spent near the resort, Ronal and MTB moved towards the pier, for task purposes, and MTB was killed by a suppressed sniper. Ronal breaks down his decision process for choosing to engage with an enemy shooting from an unknown position.
Next, the hosts talk about their frustrations when a PVP battle on the south side of the resort didn’t go their way. Both hosts left this fight having made mistakes and immediately realizing them after the battle. Interestingly, after logging out post-raid and then talking the next day, both Ronal and MTB were excited to jump back in the game even after a frustrating end.
Many strategic topics are covered throughout these two encounters: When to play for a stalemate (using insurance to your advantage), positioning squad members to their strengths, trigger discipline, and sticking to a plan.
Lastly, the hosts talk about their picks for the best features and updates from the recent 12.8 patch.
All of this and more inside the episode!

On this episode MTBtrigger and Ronal walk through a recent 45 minute Shoreline raid they did together.
There are quite a few lessons learned during this raid, but it was filled with just about everything - early PVP, multiple task objectives complete, high tier loot, and an encounter with another thicc boi duo.
Surviving and having a successful exfil has been our main focus for ‘getting better’ for the past 41 episodes. This raid highlights one of the critical decision points that every player will face - when should I leave.
There are multiple decision points that are discussed and analyzed - would you have left the raid at any of these stages? Or would you have suffered the same fate as MTB and Ronal?
Lastly, the hosts take on the subject of risk vs. reward vs. fun. How has the FIR change affected the perception of rewards for tasking?
Is the endgame of Tarkov truly defined by the player?

Lots going on outside of Tarkov this week - simply put we have tons of new updates for Discord (those are live now) AND we launched the giveaway we talked about last week on our other XP Media podcast - Winner Winner. If you want to enter to win an awesome PC check the link below!
You can find the giveaway at this link - https://twitter.com/mtbtrigger/status/1311732665368940544?s=20
On the Tarkov front, MTBtrigger and Ronal try to tackle a question that leads into a 40 minute discussion about players and games - What does hardcore mean?
Can players and games be hardcore independently? Would old games be considered ‘hardcore’ compared to their updated versions?
What is Battlestate’s definition of Hardcore?
These are all questions that may not have a definite answer, but there is quite a bit of conversation in the Tarkov community about making the game more or less hardcore. The changes that were unannounced previous to the 12.8 preliminary patch had us thinking through this lens. Do the changes coming to the game make the game more or less hardcore? Who do these changes help the most?
Notable additions that were not discussed in the 12.8 roundup episode - New skills, new voices, new lobby screen to see partners, new weapon mod slot indicator, buyout change on the flea market, generator warning on game exit, changes to bullet chambering, TAB to view stash while out of raid, Healing treatment from Therapist free until level 5.

Exfil is a weekly Escape From Tarkov Podcast
We welcome Geekseh back for his 4th appearance!
Geekseh moved into his new house and gives his life update and his new found love for Home Depot.
Some interesting news came out of the recent Russian podcast and your hosts, MTBtrigger and Ronal, talk with Geekseh about some of the things they found most interesting there - notably dynamic loot and how Battlestate is responding to cheaters.
This leads into a conversation about the player base and specifically about how some of the recent reddit and twitter conversation has sparked conversation, and unfortunately, some frustration in various communities.
The theme of Tarkov History, where the game came from, how far it has developed, continues to creep into (seemingly) every conversation. Geekseh and the hosts do their best to dissect this and figure out whether or not the history of Tarkov, or the vision of the future, should affect the way changes are made to the game now or how the player base feels about it.
Flea market. The flea market is the most recent target of playerbase polarization. What do you think? Should it be removed? Who benefits from that?
The episode is rounded out by a discussion about what dynamic loot could do to potentially improve the fun factor for all players and the hosts and Geekseh talk about what they are most excited about from the Russian podcast.

Exfil is a weekly Escape From Tarkov Podcast
On this week’s episode MTBtrigger and Ronal continue the cereal debate and talk about their favorite food to eat while playing Tarkov. Is there really a bad choice?
Lots of new youtube content on youtube.com/xpmedianow including optimizing your computer and a video you should watch if you’re considering an nVidia RTX 3000 series purchase - https://youtu.be/MnqVsaXjTfg
After spending a few weeks talking about PVE one thing kept coming up and it was the idea that development of PVE would make the conversation about PVE vs. PVP. Ronal and MTB took this concept and talked about ways it could be avoided and ultimately how PVE and PVP could be complimentary.
Do you think adding in a fully fleshed out PVE system would harm PVP?
Is it ok to teach players how to play a hardcore game? Does that take anything away from veteran players?
After wrapping up the PVE conversation, MTB and Ronal spend almost an hour on talking about winning 1v1 battles. This is a continuation of the choke points concept that MTB talked about on episode 36.
MTB breaks down a simple concept of offense and defense and how that creates a natural choke point based on play style and player preference before the ‘match’ even starts. He illustrates this by talking through how the concept applies in other games and then how it applies in Tarkov.
Following this break down, Ronal presents a pvp scenario he was recently in on shoreline and how he was able to take a fight to a stalemate until he found favorable terrain to continue the battle on and ultimately won the fight with a well timed flank. MTB then breaks this scenario down from the attacking point of view and the defender’s point of view using the choke point concept.
If you have a choice do you play aggressively or defensively in a pvp scenario?

Exfil is a weekly Escape From Tarkov Podcast
On this week’s episode MTBtrigger and Ronal talk about where their gamer tags come from. How MTB was mistaken for a gang, custom t-shirts, and a glimpse into the counter-strike heavy past. Ronal also adds to the nostalgia ride when talking about the origin of past gamer tags. ICQ, AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), Random name generators, Xbox, they take quite the journey.
After the journey into names past and various chat programs the hosts talk about some recent experiences related to the ‘queue at the same time’ tactic that is utilized for 10 man labs. In this specific instance MTB details a conversation where three individuals were frustrated completing the task and decided to queue at the same time (while not teamed up) and let the other shoot at long distance to complete the task.
Do you think this should be allowed?
Most MMOs and seasonal games end up in a similar position - players find the most effective way to complete objectives. Does BSG need to respond?
The episode is rounded out by MTB and Ronal going back and forth about the effects this could have on the future of PVP and PVE systems in Tarkov.
