On the Tarkov front, MTBtrigger and Ronal try to tackle a question that leads into a 40 minute discussion about players and games - What does hardcore mean?

Can players and games be hardcore independently?  Would old games be considered ‘hardcore’ compared to their updated versions?

What is Battlestate’s definition of Hardcore?

These are all questions that may not have a definite answer, but there is quite a bit of conversation in the Tarkov community about making the game more or less hardcore.  The changes that were unannounced previous to the 12.8 preliminary patch had us thinking through this lens.  Do the changes coming to the game make the game more or less hardcore?  Who do these changes help the most?

Notable additions that were not discussed in the 12.8 roundup episode - New skills, new voices, new lobby screen to see partners, new weapon mod slot indicator, buyout change on the flea market, generator warning on game exit, changes to bullet chambering, TAB to view stash while out of raid, Healing treatment from Therapist free until level 5.
